The Alchemist Newcastle

*I received complimentary food in exchange for a review

Before all the wedding blog posts kick off, I wanted to get back into the swing of my usual stuff. So lets start with a good old foodie review.

The Alchemist in the newish Eldon Square food quarter, is well known for its quirky cocktails, a great place to meet friends. But what about the food? To be honest I'd never even thought about going to eat at The Alchemist until I received the invitation in my inbox.

My friend (who is an actual doctor in Chemistry) went on one Saturday afternoon between shopping to find out if the food lived up to the good reputations that the cocktails have?

We started off with a few mocktails.

Chai Iced Tea for Caitlin.

Bubblygum, which was so sweet but yummy.

It didn't take long before our starters arrived. As we couldn't pick what starter to have, we just ordered them all.

Nachos, with the best cheese sauce I have ever tasted.

Mac n Cheese bites with amazing chipotle mayo.

Vegetable gyozas.

The starters were really tasty and arrived really quickly. It was so busy when we were there, so I'm glad there wasn't a long wait on the food.

For the main event we Caitlin and I both went for burgers.

Caitlin went for 'The moving mountains' burger, 100% plant based and she said it was delicious!

I ordered the Cajun breaded halloumi burger. It was amazing; and the homemade tomato sauce was delicious.

The service at The Alchemist was brilliant, we both really enjoyed our food there and agreed we would both go back.

If you are planning a trip I would recommend you book a table by calling 0191 261 1112, especially if you're visiting on a weekend.
