Sunday Lunch at Hallgarth Manor Durham

*We were gifted lunch in exchange for a blog post.

There is nothing better than going out for a Sunday lunch, I find it the best way to decompress after a long week, a chance to catch up with loved ones and eat delicious food in the process.

Just over a year ago Hallgarth The Manor House in Durham had a £2 million refurb so Matty and I went to try it out. Situated less than 5 miles out of Durham city with ample car parking and lots of grounds for Children to have a run around.

Matty and I ate in the restaurant which was decorated beautifully, gave me some good ideas for our new house.

Once seated, we were given our menus and I was so pleased to see there were 2 veggie options for starter and main, which I thought was great as you usually only get one veggie option.

It was a lovely Sunny warm day, which naturally makes everyone so excited for Summer. There was a lovely relaxed vibe in the restaurant, lots of families with children enjoying their lunch.

It didn't take long for the food to arrive once we'd ordered, Chef's homemade cream of mixed vegetable soup with a warm bread roll.

Sundried tomato, feta and olive salad.

Both starters were delicious and packed full of flavour, there was the perfect amount so we weren't too full for the main event.

Roasted mediterranean vegetable risotto with fresh parmesan and pesto.

Oven baked goats cheese with red onion chutney and toasted brioche.

I ordered the risotto but as soon as I saw Matty's goats cheese I got jealous, so I suggested we 'shared' the main courses. I'm so glad we did this as both were so tasty. I texted my Mam and sister as soon as we'd finished to say we have to go back with my Grandma!

Of course we had pudding, we always have room for pudding and luckily both of our favourite desserts were on the menu, so we ordered them both in a heartbeat

Creme brûlée with short bread biscuits.

Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

It was a dream for Matty and I eat these two puddings, they were so good.

We really enjoyed our afternoon at Hallgarth Manor Durham and the food was so tasty and very reasonably priced, 1 course £9.95, 2 courses £13.95, 3 courses £15.95. I'm already looking forward to my trip back.
