Sunday Lunch at Marco Pierre White in Hotel Indigo Durham

After running 16 long miles a few Sunday's ago (all part of my marathon training) my Mam took me out for a much needed refuelled lunch at Marco Pierre White in Hotel Indigo in Durham.

I'm still hearing mixed reviews of Marco Pierre White at Hotel Indigo and this is my second visit after my stay back at the start of the Summer, which you can read the full review here.

The restaurant is so light and airy and beautifully decorated, it really is the most beautiful venue right in the heart of Durham.

To start my sister and I both went for the honey roast parsnip soup. It was delicious and piping hot, just as soup should be served. The only problem was there wasn't enough, we had finished our soup by the time our bread arrived.

My Mam went for the hot smoked mackerel pate with picked cucumber.

There was only one vegetarian option Gnocchi with wild mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce.

My Gnocchi was lacking flavour and I thought it would be creamier, I ate it because I was hungry.

My sister is almost a professional Sunday lunch eater, there is hardly a week goes by where she doesn't go out to enjoy this British delight. Emily opted for the Pork as did my Grandma and sadly the potatoes weren't cooked and the pork was rather fatty.

Aside from the pork Emily did say that Yorkshire pudding, parsnips and cauliflower cheese were extremely tasty.

Mam went for the beef served pink.

For sides we were given cauliflower cheese and cabbage.

The service at Marco Pierre White was brilliant, as Emily had left half of her pork we were offered pudding on the house and I am not one to turn down pudding.

Cambridge burnt cream.

Lemon and raspberry sorbet.

Classic dark chocolate mousse.

I could have eat it twice over.

I thought the meal was good value for money, 2 courses for £18, 3 courses for £21 and as always the service was excellent!

I'm looking forward to going back to Marco Pierre White with my Mam at to try Afternoon Tea at the start of December.
