Flying First Class With British Airways - London to San Jose

Flying first class has been a dream of mine forever, however I never thought it would be something I'd ever actually get the chance to do. Matty and I decided to head to California this summer as his father lives there and it was left up to him to book the tickets.

Matty surprised me with the first class seat and I was over the moon, to tell you the truth I was more excited about the flight than I was the actual holiday.

We first flew from Newcastle to Heathrow Terminal 5, a route I've done quite a few times now and it all went smoothly.

Arriving in Heathrow we didn't exactly go straight to The Concorde Lounge we did make a little trip past Gucci where Matty bought me my early birthday present! (Got to make use of tax free shopping!!).

The Concorde Lounge is Terminal 5's first class lounge and everything about it really is first class. We were treated like Royalty. The man sitting next to us was addressed as your Excellency so we may have even been rubbing shoulders with Royalty!

As we were both pretty hungry we decided to grab a table in the restaurant within the lounge and kick start our holiday with a delicious bite to eat.

Mozzarella and basil arancini.

Yarde farm chocolate ice cream.

And because you can have anything you like from the menu, we also ordered Wildberry trifle.

Delicious!

And we indulged on some amazing Laurent-Perrier Grand Brut champagne, what better way to start your summer holiday?

Our flight was slightly delayed and I'm not going to lie I really wasn't too concerned. We had some more champagne in the lounge and ate some snacks whilst we waited.

If you are organised enough first class passengers can also book into the Elemis spa for a pre flight facial or massage, sadly we tried to book and were too late (I'll know for next time though).

We didn't have to wait in any queues when boarding the plane and I was shown straight to my suite, 1F. I couldn't get over how much space there was! The Cabin crew were lovely and did everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I was brought a glass of champagne, a bottle of water and my beauty bag.

Now, of course I'd already brought my own beauty bag full of treats for my skin but receiving this BA liberty bag filled with Aromatherapy associates was a real treat.

We were also given pyjamas and slippers for the flight. Which I'm not going to lie, is the coolest thing ever! I didn't actually get changed into them as I'd decided to pull my own longe pants on.

Of course the absolute highlight of flying first class was the 6ft 6inch lie flat bed. I couldn't get over just how much room I had. I am a very wriggly sleeper and I even had a enough room to move around. The duvet was so soft and fluffy.

When I woke up from the most luxurious sleep in the sky there was a bottle of water waiting for me and I was presented with a chocolate magnum. Pretty good wake up call if you ask me.

The food was so good, way better than I expected. I was given a menu with lots of different options for every dietary requirement. There was also snacks and other foods available throughout the flight.

For our three course lunch onboard.

A veggie salad for my pre-appertiser.

Starters, Scottish smoked salmon.

Main, lemon and ricotta tortellini with glazed artichokes with truffle.

Pudding,  chocolate and blackcurrant dome.

Now aside from the food the most important thing for me is the entertainment. The list of movies was extensive, I watched Peter Rabbit and Murder on the Orient express. The headphones that were prodvided were super fab, almost as good as my Base sound cancelling headphones.

Overall the experience was amazing and I feel so lucky to have ticked it off my bucket list.
Unfortunately, flying first class has ruined me and I'm already checking prices out for next years honeymoon destinations!
