The Laundrette Christmas Menu 2017

It was only at the end of October I visited the newly opened Laundrette, just over 'and along a bit' from the Central train station on Westgate road you'll find the Cocktail and Carbs restaurant.

Now, I've seen The Laundrette has had some bad press, but I have to say I find the place fantastic, staff are really friendly, food is delicious and the cocktails, well let's just say they are most certainly worth the visit for.

Wether during the festive time you want some tapas and cocktails with friends or a full blown carby meal, in true Laundrette there is something for you.

One thing most certainly not to be missed is the dough balls, served with a smoked truffle cheese fondue. This is only to be shared with your best friends because honestly, I could eat this all to myself!

Potted bloody Mary prawn cocktail, pickled cucumber, crostini. Exactly how you expect a prawn cocktail to taste, delicious.

Wild boar meatballs in a spiced tomato sauce, topped with grana padding and fried sage, as I don't eat meat I didn't try this but I was reassured by my fellow diners that it was delicious!

Chicken liver pate, cranberry marmalade and crostini. Again this was something that was a huge hit with the meat eaters at the table.

Buffalo mozzarella, beetroot caprese salad with a pickled walnut vinaigrette. This was a wintery twist on the classic caprese.

The cocktail that accompanied my starters was an Absolute milf with a Christmas twist. This cocktail was so tasty, I had two. Absolute Vodka mint, fresh strawberries, lychee syrup, topped with apple juice. It went down so easy!

If you haven't eaten enough carbs for your starter there are plenty more to indulge in during the main course.

The pizza at The Laundrette is divine, (I should know, I consider myself a bit of a pizza expert).

On the Christmas menu there are pizza's such as the pulled pork, ventricina salami, pepperoni, caramelised onion, BBQ base, mozzarella with pork crackling.

But there really is a pizza to suit everyone's taste.

The tempura battered chicken burger, chargrilled pineapple, red bell pepper, pak choi, sweet and sour jam and french fries. This was popular amongst the other north east bloggers on the table.

One thing that does slightly annoy me about restaurants, is when they wrap their fish in meat. Now obviously I know this is a personal choice and I'm sure if I asked they would remove it but sadly I didn't get to try the fish dish, which looked absolutely delicious.

Prosciutto wrapped cod, tuscan bean broth, grana padano and polenta chips.

Something I could eat was the roasted butternut squash steak, goat's cheese germinate, pomegranate, pumpkin seeds and watercress.

And I had to have another absolute milf to wash it down with.

We couldn't round the night off without indulging in something sweet.

Burnt caramel apple and panic cruel with vanilla ice cream.

Cinnamon bombilini doughnut balls, chocolate fondue and whiskey cream. (My favourite)

Laundrette cheese board, water biscuits, black honey and walnuts.

An absolute wedge of salted tequila lime cheesecake with dark chocolate whipped ganache.

I had a lovely time at The Laundrette and thought the menu for Christmas was really good. A festive 2 course lunch will be £23 or 3 courses £25. Festive dinner is £28.

The food was really good as were the cocktails.
