Penash Indian Restaurant at the Croxdale Inn - Durham

If you are a curry lover like me and live in the North East - you need to visit the Croxdale Inn, Tudhoe, Durham.

This is quite possibly the best curry I have yet eaten...big claim, I know!

^^^Spot my parents posing and Matty crossing the road.

The four of us went to the Croxdale Inn on Saturday night after a work presentation, it was my idea to go for curry which everyone thought was a cracking idea. I called up as it was 9pm and I was told the restaurant serves food until 9:45.

Croxdale Inn is a Pub, but it's also a curry house called Penash. You'll find this hidden gem on the main road into Tudhoe.

Kicking off the meal with some popadoms with a delicious manage dip, in fact they were all pretty good!

My favourite Indian dish used to be Chicken Tikka Masala. Since I don't eat meat anymore I've been searching for the perfect vegetable alternative but never quite the same.

I found it, on Saturday night. It wasn't on the menu, I told the waitress when she took my order what I would like to eat and the chef made this dish. It was sweet and unbelievably tasty.

The chef created a delicious alternative, a vegetable tikka, the tastiest of curries. As an alternative to chicken the curry was packed full of fresh vegetables.

As for the rest of the dishes they consisted of; Chicken Biryani, basmati rice infused with a variety of flavours and masala with pieces of chicken.

Although this dish was for my Dad it was enjoyed by everyone on the table.

Chicken Tikka Masala, boneless pieces of chicken coated with yoghurt and light spices cooked to perfection in the Penash's tandoori oven. I wiped the bowl clean of both of these dishes. The sauces tasted so good.

We had a choice of mushroom rice and garlic rice.

Along with a choice of pushwari nan and a garlic nan.

A table full of deliciousness.

All the food along with 2 pints of larger, a soft drink, a G&T and a glass of red wine came to under £60 - which I think is excellent value for money.

At the end of the meal Head Chef J came out and we got a chat with him. I raved about how good I thought the food was as did the rest of my family.

I can't recommend this place enough if you live local to Tudhoe you must give Croxdale Inn a visit. I've been craving my vegetable tikka all week. So much so I've been working out when I'll be able to get a take away from there.
