Now I only drink certain types of wine and I can usually smell if a wine is going to be good or not (this was once proven at a hen do when I was given a 'blind taste test' not much bad wine gets past me). Anyway I digress.
I was invited to The Pip Stop in Lanchester around a 10 minute drive from Durham city for a Christmas wine walk. I took my mother along, like me she appreciates a good bottle of wine.
We arrived (getting my father to drop us off) at The Pip Stop had a lovely warm welcome from the staff and were given our welcome drink which was a sparkling Shiraz.
Tickets to the Christmas wine walk cost £10 with 12 samples of wine along with nibbles that accompany said wine who can blame them?
To put it bluntly I was like a child in a sweet shop. I couldn't decide what wine to try first.
Any wines you tried were of course available to buy with a special discount for the evening. Ben from The Pip Stop was extremely helpful and really knew his wines as we were looking for a particular bottle but recommended us something better that was slightly cheaper.
There were also samples of The Lake distillery Gin and Whiskey where I managed to pick up a Christmas present.
There are lots of different events coming in 2017, you can find the full list here.
January 26th 2017- Gin Tasting
February 2nd 2017- Wine Tasting
February 9th 2017- Beer Tasting
February 23rd- Wine Tasting
Gin tasting - an actual night to which you can dedicate to tasting lots of different gin's, seriously is there anything better?
For someone like my father who is pretty hard to buy a Christmas present for a ticket to a wine tasting event would be ideal and possibly a gift voucher so they can get a bottle of two of their favourite tipple.
