The first glass of Champagne with a hangover is always a struggle but it soon got easier.
After the 'struggle' hopped in cars/taxis and made out way to Bistro 21.
With 18 of us Mam had decided to book the upstairs room at Bistro. (Which by the way the now charge for on a Saturday and Sunday, it's not like a deposit it's a charge)
Emily and I had already been over on the morning to decorate the room with balloons and some banners just in case Dad's guest's forgot why we were there.
Bistro 21 is set in old Aykley heads House which is just North of Durham city.
The beauty about the having the private room is that you get your own entrance, a private bar and private toilets.
Once we had all been seated the wine and water was served. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't drink much water.
Which came with vegetables on the side.
Although we are upstairs the food does come pretty quickly and is still hot when it reaches you.
^^^ This is my 'I am being patient and waiting for everyone else's food to arrive' face.
Before we ordered pudding we had a short break where we all listened to Dad and heard a few of his stories. It's great having the family altogether as it only ever seems to happen at Christmas.
For pudding I had the warm chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream.
Pistachio is my all time favourite ice cream (after vanilla).
We left just after pudding to carry on the party back in the kitchen and as all good parties end. At midnight with lots of fizz.
Thank goodness my Dad's birthday only comes around once a year. But we've had a great week celebrating it.
