On Sunday after Newcastle unite lost miserably against our local rival Sunderland, Ryan and I needed cheering up so what better way to cheer us up with alcohol and food?
We headed to Tango.
Just down from the Market place Tango is located on Elvet bridge. Not far away from The Marriott and The City pub. Perfect for any pre drinks.
Tango is owned by the same family that have Zen and The Townhouse in Durham. (If you've lived in Durham a long time like me they also used to own The Pumphouse on your way to Shincliffe)
I did book a table as but we turned up early and we were seated straight away. If you are planning a trip I would recommend calling ahead to ensure you get a table as it gets pretty busy.
^ The table behind is actually my favourite table.
When our waiter came over to get our drinks order Ryan asked for a surprise and I asked for something with strawberries and vodka.
Mine was beautiful, strawberries pineapple and the perfect vodka kick.
We still don't know what was in Ryan's but it had pomegranate in. I really liked that one too.
^ Ryan's on the left mine on the right.
For food, I always get the same thing.
Hens hanging saucy stay skewer. I am sorry but I always get this. It's the best. (I was in Zen a few days a go and I actually thing the satay sauce is better at Tango) Served with flat bread, salad, chips and a gorgeous fresh relish. The chicken was so tender and smothered in stay sauce but I always ask for a little extra to dip in.
R ordered The Flat iron steak and as suggested by the menu ordered this steak rare. Accompanied with a pot of fiery peppercorn sauce. All washed down with a Mojito.
Tango is up there with one of my favourite places to eat in Durham. The staff are all really friendly and there is a young cool vibe going on that even my Dad loves.
