So it seemed fitting for our Date night this week Ryan and I headed to Caffe Vivo. It's been years since I've been to Caffe Vivo so I think this trip was way over due.
Set on the Quayside the Italian style restaurant had a buzzing atmosphere for a Monday night. The restaurant was fully booked and the service showed that.
When we arrived the restaurant was buzzing. Packed in fact. It took us a long time to get a drink and even longer time to order our food.
We were given some crusty bread and there was olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table already. Which is my favourite combo to eat crusty bread with.
For starters I managed to persuade Ryan to get the antipasti misto which took 25 minuets to come. Although it was gorgeous my photo really doesn't do it justice.
Olives are something I have just got into eating recently and I ate the whole dish. There were sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella hidden away that you can't see.
Then there was a 40 minutes wait for the main course. We kept being told it would be 5 minutes, but then a further 15 minutes would pass and it just got a bit of a joke really.
I ordered the Saffron risotto with grilled prawns. Unfortunately mine was completely bland. I never add salt or pepper to my food but I had too to get a little bit of flavour. I was given some parmesan to sprinkle on top.
Ryan had the venison. Which I had thought about getting. His was beautiful. Although he did find it rich it was full of flavour and tasted amazing in my opinion.
Before we ordered we had already decided we wanted pudding but by the time we had been fed it was far to late for pudding. Which I was so disappointed about as the ones coming out of the kitchen looked amazing.
They did knock a little bit off the bill but I had a 50% off voucher so it wasn't really that much.
Sadly I won't be rushing back. I enjoyed The Broad Chare so much more than Caffe Vivo.
