Dinner at Rockliffe Hall Club House

On Monday night Matty and I had a real treat. We made our way to Rockliffe Hall in Darlington for dinner.

We were having dinner in The Clubhouse - somewhere I had never been. I've been brought on my golf courses and I always assumed Clubhouses were for golfer to have pre or post golf food with a strict dress code.

I was very wrong. The Clubhouse is an amazing place to dine. I was so impressed by the view of the course we had at our table.

While we were looking through the menu we were offered bread and olives which were very welcome as I was hungry.

There were two menus to choose from, the À La Carte and the set menu. The set menu had 6 choices for each course, plenty to choose from £22 for 2 courses and 3 courses at £27. This menu is available at lunch 12 Noon till 3pm Monday through to Saturday and dinner 5pm till 7pm Monday through to Sunday.

We chose from the À La Carte Menu.

Matty started with Cheddar cheese & spinach soufflé £10.20, I couldn't resist a taste and it was delicious. I did get a little bit of food envy.

For my starter I went for Heirloom tomato & mozzerella salad with capers and bail pesto £8. This was so refreshing, I really enjoyed all the different flavours of the tomatoes infused with the basil pesto.

I was enjoying sipping on my Pinot Noir between courses.

Matty's eyes lit up when he saw his steak coming towards our table. The Fillet Steak £32.40, with hand cut chips, fine beans & tomato which was topped with a Peppercorn sauce £3.

I know Matty throughly enjoyed this as he kept telling me how good the steak was. I did managed to steal 2 hand cut chips which I dipped in the Peppercorn sauce which was delicious.

For my main course I went for the Saffron Risotto with charred leak and aged parmesan £17.70. The Risotto was creamy and bursting with flavours.

The service in The Clubhouse at Rockliffe Hall was impeccable, top quality service.

When we were asked by Ben our waiter if we would we would like to see the Pudding menu, I said yes before the question was completely out of his mouth.

Pudding is my favourite part of any meal and Rockliffe Hall did not disappoint.

Matty went off piste with his choice and opted for something that wasn't on the menu but Rockliffe Hall accommodated his request in just wanting some sorbet. There was 2 scoops of blackcurrant and 2 scoops of champagne just what he needed to cleanse his palette.

On the other hand I went for the first thing on the menu that caught my eye.

White Chocolate mousse with strawberries and Turkish delight £7.90. This was amazing. I begrudgingly gave Matty the smallest of tastes. The mousse melted in my mouth.

The decor at The Clubhouse was modern and chic. Which suited the atmosphere.

Rockliffe Hall is the perfect place for a special occasion or a couples date night.

I would saying booking is essential as you don't want to travel to Rockliffe and be turned away. You can book by calling on 01325 729999.

The next place I would like to visit is the spa, I hear they have a new outdoor spa area that I haven't tried yet.
