Back To Seaham Hall For Afternoon Tea

Long time readers of KJO will know Seaham Hall is one of my favourite places to visit so when my Mam invited me along for afternoon tea I couldn't reply yes fast enough.

I was full of cold so my outfit was pretty relaxed for the occasion.

We were going for the Duchess of Bedford afternoon tea that is priced at £22 per person or you can upgrade to have a glass of Champagne for £32.

We arrived just after half 1 and had the lounge to ourselves for half an hour before other guests arrived.

The table was already set with the afternoon tea essentials.

With 10 teas to chose from I went for the Jing whole peppermint leaf and my mother went Lemongrass and ginger tea.

In the last few months I have become a pescatarian so I had slightly different sandwiches to my Mam.

We got, egg mayonnaise and watercress, smoked salmon cream cheese and cucumber, cheese savoury with whole grain mustard, I got two of those and my had honey roast ham with sun blushed tomatoes.

In the past the sandwiches have been served on a cake stand along with the scones and the cakes but on this occasion they came straight on a plate with the scones served in a basket with a choice of plain and fruit scones.

As soon as I had finished my finger sandwiches I moved straight on to have a plain scone with lashings of cream and jam on top.

Tasted delicious.

The cakes then followed, kind of like our pudding.

We had a choice of, Apple Crumble and Egg custard tart, Rhubarb Macaroon, Lemon Financier and Blood Orange and Chocolate Mousse cake.

They all tasted just as good as they looked. But my favourite was the Macaroon.

Mam and I shared the rest of the cakes but had one of each leftover along with half of the scones. The lovely ladies at Seaham Hall boxed these up for us to take home.

Dad was happy when he got home from work that he had some cakes to dig into.

How stylish does my Mam look?

As always I really enjoyed my Afternoon tea at Seaham Hall and have no doubt I'll be back soon, I really want to go back for dinner.
