The Kingslodge Inn - Durham

So there's been a little bit of chopping any changing of restaurants around Durham recently. Finbarr's, who used to be at The Kingslodge have moved to the Aykley Heads house where Bistro 21 used to be. Sadly Bistro 21 has now closed down but we have a brand new restaurant - The Kings Lodge Inn. Which is where Finbarr's used to be. Confused? Probably but I'm going to tell you all about the new kid in town today. The Kings Lodge Inn.

Emily and I popped down last Thursday to sample the menu. The weather was dreadful, like a cold autumn evening. You'd never have believed it was actually June.

Firstly I was in complete shock how much The Kings Lodge had changed inside. It has a country pub vibe to it. The staff were super friendly and very welcoming.

Emily and I sat in the bar browsing through the menu and drinking our wine. We ordered our food at the bar and the waitress simply came and brought us through to the restaurant when our food was ready.

The restaurant has had an amazing makeover which only took 6 weeks.

For starter Emily tucked into the homemade pate of the day which was chicken and rosemary with cranberry chutney. £4.95.

I went for the Antipasto. The meats were incredibly tasty and the marinated olives were the best I've ever had. I could have eaten a full jar. £7.95.

For main course Emily and I both went for the Streak and ale pie with a side of peas and chips £12.45. I have been craving The Kings Lodge chips ever since. They were delicious.

Now you may have thought by this point Emily and I would be far too full for anything else to eat. However you would be wrong. We saw the puddings coming out of the kitchen and had to have one.

Emily went for the Sticky Toffee Sundae £6.95.

I had the Knickerbocker glory £6.95. Both were tremendous! We ate every like bit and then debated about how we were going to roll from our seats to our taxi (Kennextions) picked us up to take us home.

Kennextions is a fabulous private hire company based in Durham and if you ever hear me on Youtube saying I'm waiting for my car it's often Ken that is picking me up. Pop this number in your phone for the next time you need a car. 07941 729 541.

Don't forget to follow me on snapchat // katiejaneonline. I eat out most evenings and usually always snapchat.
