Spring Menu Launch at Gusto - Newcastle

Last week I was away with work. No where exciting just traveling around France and Belgium, I loved being on the open road but I did get pretty homesick. I was glad to get home and head to Newcastle for some much needed retail therapy.

But before the therapy could start I needed some food so naturally R and I headed to the Quayside to Gusto (as I love it).

Gusto's have launched a swanky new spring menu too.

Before I got chance to study the new menu I ordered a peach dessert.

A cocktail that reminded me of something I should be drinking by the white sandy beach.

There were a few new additions to the menu and I really wanted to try them all. So I did what anyone else would do. Convinced R to get the dish I wanted.

Tiger prawns in garlic tomato and cream sauce with grilled ciabatta.

I had such food envy once I saw this dish. The flavours were amazing and I ended up finish off all of the left over sauce. Would be wonderful with some pasta.

I went for the Burratina mozzarella with pare gratuga (bread crumbs to me and you), bitter lemon puree and pickled radicchio.

The mozzarella was so creamy and tasty. The sweetness of the lemon is something I wasn't too sure about but I needn't have worried I think this worked really well.

For main course I went for one of my favourites. Sorry I'm a girl of habit.

White crab, chilli and garlic spaghetti.

Hands down my favourite dish. Next time I should really try something else, I did really want to try the haddock risotto but the crab spaghetti is just so good.

R went for the beef tortellini in a red wine and tomato jus.

He's been sticking to the lean in 15 food plan so I think this trip to Gusto's was much needed. He demolished his tortellini and hardly said anything between mouthfuls.

I was far to full for pudding and needed to get to work on my retail therapy.

Have you seen the new menu at Gusto? Or even better what have you tired?
