Palm Beach - Aruba

Aruba is one of my favourite islands in the Carribean. Crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches, honestly, it is paradise!

There is all kinds of things to do on the islands, shopping, water sports and glorious beaches. Mam and I headed to Palm beach, a short bus journey away.

The bus station is just over the road from the port, and you can buy your prepaid bus card there. Top it up with $4 and that’s enough for a return journey on the island.

There are bus stops in Aruba, but, if you tell the driver where you want to get off, he'll pull over for you.

It took around 15 minutes to get to Palm beach and it was was amazing. My idea of paradise, the blue water, warm sand and the sound of birds singing while the waves gently roll in, there is simply nothing better.

$5 for a bed each and we sat there all afternoon. Reading our books and sipping on cocktails.

My book, 60 Postcards is something I picked up in the library on board. I read and I cried, thank goodness I was wearing sun glasses so no one could see my tears rolling down my face.

60 Postcards is a book on a 20 something girls journey of losing her mother. I picked it up in the library on board Britannia.

Mam and I lay on the beach until it was time to head back to the port where we had a quick look round the town.

I love the buildings in Aruba, typical of the Carribean, but in a European style.

We had time to have a quick mango daiquiri for me, and a local beer for Mam.

Aruba, I promise I’ll come back.
