Eat, Pray and Run...

It's no secret around these parts, I have a new addiction. Running.

I've battled my entire adult life with fatigue. It was common for me to come home from work have a little nap before having my dinner or settling down to watch some TV.



In the summer I decided this had to change. I'm in my mid 20s this wasn't how my life was going to be. I played around with changing my diet but I knew it was my fitness I needed to tackle. When I was at school we used to play at least 3 hours sport a day. Hockey, netball, rounder's, tennis and the dreaded cross country I made all the teams.

After asking a few friends I found a C25k course and at first I was a little embarrassed that I couldn't run 5k. But the embarrassment soon left as I met an amazing bunch of like minded people, who like me wanted to get fit.



So in September I became a 'runner'. I say it like this because if you had asked me in August if I'd give up going out on night's out in order to get up and go to a Parkrun on Saturday morning or give up my usual after work nap in order to go on a 4 mile run I would have more than likely laughed at you and said I don't run, ever.

Now don't get me wrong I still on the odd occasion have a nap, usual on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon after a lot of indulgent. But for me this is a lot better than coming home at half 5 and having a solid hour and a half nap.



I feel my energy levels have changed and within myself I feel a million times better.

I've got a whole bunch of new friends and I try and run at least 3 times a week, 4 if I'm lucky. It's a complete lifestyle change to me this time last year.

Changing my diet too is something I wanted to do so I've tried to cut out as much refined sugar as I can and up my water intake. But I think this is going to take a lot longer for me to get used too but I promise you, it's something I will get better at.




Katie Jane Online might become a little more fitness orientated as my life has change somewhat since starting this blog, I hope you enjoy reading my journey. I'll still be talking about travel, recipes and amazing restaurants in the North East and rest of the world. There might just be a few fitness outfit of the days and a few North East runs thrown in.
